Imprudent application of agrochemicals with resultant side effects of environmental degradation, pesticide contamination of agricultural commodities has resulted in a paradigm shift in crop and soil health management from chemo-intensive to bio-intensive strategies in recent times. Additionally, the potential of North-East India as organic hub of the country coupled with accelerated demand for residue free or organically grown crops have raised the prospects of organic farming, thus, promising it as a lucrative agro - based venture in NE India. The organic agriculture means, application of bioinputs such as biofertilizers to promote soil health and application of biopesticide / bioprotectant to prevent occurrence of diseases and pests. The bioinputs may be mixed with dry cowdung / vermicompost for a better multiplication of microbial strains. In an integrated approach of farming, application of bioinputs is combined with 50% doses of chemicals as per recommendation and 50% doses of bioinputs (50% RD of chemicals + 50% bioinputs in a time gap of 3 – 7 days).
The DBT-North-East Centre for Agricultural Biotechnology, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat has developed several efficient biofertlizers and bioprotectants to promote organic agriculture in the N E region. Our company has signed an MoU with Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat on Nov 5, 2024, for commercialization of bioinput technologies developed by AAU, Jorhat.

Advantages of Tissue Culture Plants
Currently, around 100 bighas of maize and 50 bighas of pumpkin are under organic cultivation using biofertilizers and biopesticides developed by AAU and supplied by Assure Biovention Pvt. Ltd. These bioinputs are helping farmers transition from conventional to organic practices, aiming for better soil health, reduced chemical usage, and sustainable yields.
To showcase these efforts, a Field Day was organized in the cultivation zone under the Bokajan subdivision. The event was jointly conducted by Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and Assure Biovention Pvt. Ltd., focusing on the theme: “Application of Bioinputs to Promote Organic Agriculture.” The programme witnessed the participation of 65 farmers affiliated with KERUF.
The event was graced by several notable attendees, including:All speakers highlighted the multiple benefits of organic farming—from environmental sustainability to improved farmer livelihoods—and emphasized the role of bioinputs in achieving these goals. Encouraged by the success of this initiative, stakeholders are optimistic about expanding organic farming across a larger area of Karbi Anglong in the near future, with continued involvement of KERUF and support from local authorities.
